The Secret February 5, 2007

Posted by Amanda in Media.

Did anyone else see that complete load of crap called “The Secret” the other night on Channel Nine?

It was billed as a documentary but turned out to be a two hour infomercial for “The Law of Attraction”. This is the theory that you attract your own luck through positive or negative thinking. Of course, the outcome of this must be that people in poverty and in developing nations have a lot of negative thoughts because the law of attraction sure isn’t working in their favour.

I would love to know who paid for it. We wondered if it was some sort of James Packer funded Scientology push but I haven’t found any evidence of that yet.

Check out the website here

Sounds like your a bit negative maybe you should try it. and what is wrong with thinking positive thought and associating yourself with being positive in general when there is so much negativity in this world???

My problem is that it is a concept that is only good for our cushy Western lives.

The whole program focused on money and how you can get what you want- how about instead of focusing on what we want, we focus on others and those who really have nothing. How about we appreciate what we have and not focus on what we don’t have.

It is just another money making self help scheme and should not have been billed as a documentary. It should have been made obvious who paid for this two hour long advertisement.
